MARCH IS: WATER, SANITATION, AND HYGIENE (WASH) MONTH

One of the seven Areas of Focus is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) which is the Rotary theme for March. March 22nd marks World Water Day and ties in as March is designated as Water Month by Rotary International. In 2024, the theme will be Leveraging Water for Peace.

Creating a positive ripple effect

The theme of World Water Day 2024 is ‘Water for Peace’. When we cooperate on water, we create a positive ripple effect – fostering harmony, generating prosperity, and building resilience to shared challenges. We must act upon the realization that water is not only a resource to be used and competed over – it is a human right, intrinsic to every aspect of life.

This World Water Day, we all need to unite around water and use water for peace, laying the foundations of a more stable and prosperous tomorrow. That means you! You and your family, school, and community can make a difference by changing the way you use, consume, and manage water in your lives. This is a once-in-a-generation moment for the world to unite around water.

Play your part. Do what you can.

HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN

Through water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change.

Through global grant activities, clubs and districts can participate in strategically focused, high-impact activities that align with Rotary goals. $ 160 million is the amount that The Rotary Foundation has invested in water, sanitation, hygiene, and water resource management interventions globally.

Donations via The Rotary Foundation to the Annual Fund Share and through Legacy/Endowment/Bequest giving to WASH programs, help support these activities and grants.
