ROTARIANS DELIVER DICTIONARIES TO NAVAJO NATION 3RD GRADERS

On January 22, Third Graders at Chinle (Arizona) Elementary, Canyon de Chelly Elementary and Tsaile Elementary were visited by members of Castle Rock High Noon Rotary Club and South Jeffco Rotary Club. To enhance the children’s reading skills, these Rotarians brought a beautiful hardbound dictionary for each third grader at these 3 schools. Members of these clubs worked together to raise funds, acquire the dictionaries and then transport and hand them out one by one. They are meant for the children to keep as their own.

Denise Harris-Frazier from Castle Rock High Noon Rotary Club, said “Our Castle Rock High Noon Rotary Club was very happy to raise the funds and distribute these beautiful dictionaries to the children in Chinle and Tsaile.”

Sam Reiser from the South Jeffco (CO) Rotary Club said, “The gratitude expressed by the teachers and librarians when we gave them dictionaries for their classrooms, and the enthusiastic exploration through the pages of a new book the students could call their own was priceless. We went to Chinle in a truck loaded with 200 books. We came home in a truck with less weight, but filled much fuller with love and appreciation.”

Both Clubs would like to expand the number of dictionaries we are able to provide next year.
