The Rotary Club of Alexandria Cosmopolitan - District 2451 (Egypt) has the pleasure to communicate with you directly, and to introduce our flagship project: Cross Egypt Challenge that we have been carrying out for 9 consecutive years.
The world as we know it is rapidly changing, and Egypt is located in a zone that is always looked at as a dangerous place to visit due to the many political changes in the region, however the reality of things is: Egypt remains a very safe destination to visit and has been topping the best tourism destinations lists in 2019.
Egypt is a country that depends highly on tourism and we as Rotarians from this side of the planet feel it is our duty to let our fellows worldwide know that Egypt is still a marvellous and safe place to travel to, and to enjoy some of the best sights in the world. We send an assurance message to our fellows everywhere that the situation in Egypt is very safe and we invite them to experience this first hand by taking part in our initiative: Cross Egypt Challenge which was also featured in the January 2017 issue of the international "Rotarian Magazine" - please click here to read the Rotarian article -
Cross Egypt Challenge is an international cross-country motorcycle and scooter adventure tour conducted throughout the majestic and fascinating Egypt. Participation in the tour is open for Rotarians and non-rotarians and their accompanying spouses or friends from around the globe. People who do not ride motorcycles can also join this amazing adventure and be hosted in air-conditioned chase vans.
This amazing Rotary project started in 2011 and for the past 9 years, Rotarians and riders from over 45 countries took part in the adventurous challenge. This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Cross Egypt Challenge and anticipate a great season with a big reunion of past riders from around the globe.The new season will start on October 15th, 2020, last for 10 days and will pass by Egypt's top attractions and off the beaten track destinations.
A normal practice we are used to conduct during Cross Egypt Challenge is an annual "Sahara Rotary Meetings" where riding Rotarians along with Rotaracts from our organizing team conduct an official Rotary meeting in the Egyptian Desert – please view attached image -, a practice that we happily repeat at each new season.
We appreciate very much the support many of our fellow Rotarians around the globe have shown in the past few years. We have had the pleasure to welcome many Rotarians to our Cross Egypt Challenge who also have helped us raise awareness and support our beautiful country Egypt that has been suffering from bad media in the past few years. It is our duty as Rotarians in this part of the world to show our fellows what real Egypt is, and that it is very safe to visit and enjoy this once a great civilization.
In this regard, I kindly ask you to send this invitation email to all clubs in district 5450 for any interested fellow to join the challenge this October be it on a scooter, on a motorcycle or in our chase vans and enjoy a once in a life-time experience (a motorcycle and scooter rental option is available for international participants). A personal invitation is also open for yourself, so we have the pleasure to welcome you in Egypt.
