CONSTITUTION DAY

September 17th is Constitution Day. It is a day on which our Federal government has required that educational institutions across the country, that receive Federal funds, shall educate their students about the US Constitution. I am asking Rotary Clubs in District 5450 to reach out to 8th grade and high school teachers in their community to arrange for a volunteer to visit classes on, or around, Constitution Day to give students a free Liberty Lives Forever pocket Constitution book and to go over the contents of the US Constitution with the students. These books are available from Rotarian Andy McKean for $1 each plus shipping. Inside the books are 24 Flash Cards for students to study and learn - all facts taken directly out of the text of the US Constitution. Contact Andy at: andy@libertylivesforever.org or 303-989-4833
As part of this program we ask students to write a short essay indicating what their favorite part of the US Constitution is and why? OR if they were to add another amendment to the US Constitution what would it be and why? Andy asks that sample essays be forwarded to him. His address is: 1530 S. Zang St., Lakewood, CO 80228

In addition, a number of Colorado’s elected officials have videotaped messages about the US Constitution that can be viewed at:  www.youtube.com/libertydayusa  Click on Playlists and then Click on Colorado and/or Washington, DC, to view President Trump’s message. We would like students to view some of these messages and then to e-mail the elected officials office their comments about the US Constitution. Comments can be made through their websites:  Colorado.gov/governor; gardner.senate.gov; bennet.senate.gov; degette.house.gov; tipton.house.gov; whitehouse.gov/contact
