WE COULD STILL MAKE 2019 THE YEAR OF THE LAST CASE OF WILD POLIO!!

Six weeks into 2019 we have had 3 confirmed cases of wild poliovirus-caused paralysis—2 in Pakistan and 1 in Afghanistan. BUT, so far no confirmed cases of circulating vaccine-derived polio which is good news! We can’t let our guard down and must continue the fight by raising money for the surveillance and eradication efforts!

Here are some ideas that you/your club might use as fundraisers: 1. Get a team together for the Ride to End Polio “2019 El Tour de Tucson” on November 23, 2019 (but you can also participate locally with your own mini-ride or individual/group stationary bike ride challenges) check out www.ridetoendpolio.org , 2. Host a “World’s Greatest Meal” www.wgmeal.com, 3. Collect “Pocket Change” at a meeting(s) or throughout the year, 4. Match donations to Polio Plus fund with “points” donated by the club or by individuals, 5. Have members pay to have (or maybe pay to avoid) having their pinky finger painted with purple nail polish or having a purple streak put in their hair with temporary hair color.
