For: Honors and celebrates a Rotarian who has dedicated their time and talents for many years at the club and District level and exemplifies the ideal of Service Above Self in all ways.
Type: Personalized plaque and Paul Harris Fellow recognition.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: August 1
Rules: The recipient should be a long-time Rotarian with service at both the club and District levels. This Rotarian should be the one in their club that quietly helps guide and direct by their tireless work in many club activities.  Their wisdom and leadership are unparalleled within the club, but this Rotarian never seeks personal recognition.  They are the bedrock of their club, always positive and encouraging, providing an ideal example for others of what Service Above Self means.

History: This award is named in recognition and honor of Summit County Rotarian Jim Brook who exemplifies the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self in his tireless and continuing dedication to Rotary. Jim joined Rotary in Canada in 1984 and has been a member of four clubs in the past 38 years. He has been club President in three different clubs, including Summit Rotary in 2013-14. From 2014 through 2021 Jim held the positions of District 5450 Assistant Lieutenant Governor and Lieutenant Governor while also remaining active in Summit Rotary club. Jim has been instrumental in coordinating and leading Summit Rotary’s largest fundraiser, Car Raffle, for many years while also serving as Youth Exchange Officer twice, Boy Scouts Committee chair, Polio Plus chairperson, and a member of the club Bylaws committee. He has also provided his quiet wisdom, experience, and guidance to the Summit Rotary Charitable Fund board of directors for many years. The Summit Rotary club and District has benefited in countless ways from Jim’s tireless dedication to all things Rotary. This award seeks to honor other quiet ‘tireless Rotarians’ in District 5450 for their long commitment to Service Above Self.
