ROTARY DISTRICT 5450

Water & Sanitation Task Force

The Water & Sanitation Task Force provides information and support for Rotary Clubs in District 5450 in their efforts to provide clean and safe water for people around the world.   We meet monthly, and every Rotarian attending is given the opportunity to report on the progress of their club’s water/sanitation projects, and to solicit advice, input and support from other members.  We generally have a Special Guest, who reports on relevant topics of interest.

The Task Force acts as a clearing house for Best Practice information on the establishment of water/sanitation projects, with particular emphasis on sustainability and on scale-up issues.  The minutes of the meeting provide detailed reports on topics discussed, and act as a continuing reference source for Task Force members.

We develop and sustain useful contacts with other NGO’s operating in the water/sanitation field, such as Water for People, Engineers without Borders, IDE-International Development Enterprises, and faith-based groups.

About 80% of the clubs in the District participate to some extent in water/sanitation projects, with about 20 clubs directly involved in formulating and leading such projects.
