Rules: The Alana James Diversity Award recognizes a Rotarian or club in District 5450 whose efforts have resulted in significantly reducing intolerance of Racial, Ethnic, Religious, Gender and Sexual Diversity within their club or community.
History: The Award is named for Alana James, former member and friend of the Rotary Club of Denver LoDo. Alana James has spent a lifetime working to reduce intolerance in society, both personally and professionally. During Alana’s membership with the club, both she and her partner taught Rotarians in LoDo about the triumphs of diversity, and joys of interacting with those who are marginalized by society.
Criteria: Due to the nature of diversity, and achieving success in reducing intolerance to it, there is no set criteria for judging the recipient of this award. All evaluations will be judged relative to the achievement described by the award applicant.
